Do You Put Eggs In Broccoli Casserole?
Some people choose to put a scrambled egg in their Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole to thicken the consistency. I find that this makes it taste more like a frittata, which is equally tasty but feels more like a Vegetarian main course than a side dish.

Variations
- Make it meaty. Add a little precooked rotisserie chicken or cubed ham to increase the amount of protein per serving.
- Add more veggies. If you love veggies and want to add more flavor variety to this dish, you can include zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, or eggplant. These modifications will impact the nutritional facts per serving.
- Switch up the sauce. If you're not a fan of sharp cheddar cheese, you can pour some of my keto alfredo sauce over the top of the cauliflower and broccoli and sprinkle parmesan to finish.
How Do You Make Broccoli Casserole With Ritz Crackers?
If you're not concerned about carbs or gluten, you can always go the traditional route and top your Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole with Ritz crackers.
To make this modification, crush up a sleeve of Ritz crackers in a ziptop bag. Pour 2 tablespoons of melted butter into the bag and shake until the crackers are covered in butter. Sprinkle the crackers over the top of the broccoli and cauliflower and top with cheese. Cook according to the directions below.
What To Serve With It
This Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole is the perfect side dish for almost any meal. It can make even the most basic protein into a complete meal. Here are a few of my favorite things to serve with it:
How Long Does It Last?
Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole makes wonderful leftovers. Since it pairs so well with so many dishes, saving half for another meal is never a bad idea. For the best texture and flavor, store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy them within 3-4 days.
Can You Freeze Broccoli Gratin?
Yes, you technically can freeze this broccoli side dish. Make sure you place it in a freezer-safe container to avoid freezer burn.
A few hours before you're ready to eat your broccoli casserole, remove it from the freezer and place it in the refrigerator to begin defrosting. When it's time to warm it up, place the thawed casserole back in the air fryer and cook at 350F for 3-4 minutes or until it is warmed through.
