Mix Dry Ingredients. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Add Chocolate Chips. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Preheat Griddle. Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.
Pour Batter. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
Flip and Cook. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Plate and Serve. Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings such as syrup, whipped cream, or fresh berries.
