For a delicious variation, instead of a ham bone, use flanken (ie, beef short ribs, Korean cut). So delicious. I also add barley. One of my favorite winter meals.

I don't know how to praise the genius that is Urvashi Pitre.
Last night we had your delicious & easy Tuscan Chicken.
I made it to have something delicious to break up the misery of eating the horribly salty bone in ham I made recently.
Do you know how long it takes 2 people to eat an entire bone in smoked ham shank? Well a lot longer when it turns out to be a poor excuse for ham that tastes of nothing but salt.

So i decided to make a pea soup in my instant pot & found your recipe. I only look at keto/LC recipes typically so I was very happy when a Twosleevers recipe popped up on my Google search.
I had a crappy ham & dried peas that should have been used by 2018. I lost track of how many cups of peas i had added, i had no idea how much meat and bone my ham amounted to.
The smell out of my instant pot was devine & my husband asked, "when's dinner?" at 11:am.

I explained that I had combined a lousy ham with ancient peas & had only the most rough estimate of measurements, so he should lower his expectations.
I opened the pot after releasing the pressure & inside was split pea & ham perfection. Because my ham was horribly salty I didn't add any at all. The result is delicious.
I had taken out some chicken to make a quick Butter Chicken in case the soup went out in the trash. I guess Butter Chicken will be another day.
The soup is excellent & you are my hero! (Again & still).
Thank you for another terrific recipe. I have 3 of your cookbooks and probably cook more Twosleevers recipes than any other single source.
Thank you, ty,ty!🌷💗🥰
