Prepare the Asparagus. Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat dry. Trim off the tough ends of the asparagus stalks, usually about the bottom inch.

Garnish and Serve. Transfer the cooked asparagus to a serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with lemon zest, grated Parmesan cheese, or a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for added flavor. Serve immediately as a side dish.
