This recipe is all over Pinterest, and it seemed awfully simple. I love recipes where you just basically throw a bunch of things in a pot and cook them, and they they turn out delicious.
Here’s the recipe.
3 pounds chuck roast
1 package dry ranch dresssing mix
1 package Au Jus gravy mix
1 stick of butter
4 pepperonicini peppers
Dump into crockpot and cook at 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low. So I did all that. Very simple.
Super salty and swimming in unnecessary grease. I’m all for lots of butter. But this one was just butter floating on top for no reason. I am really not sure it added much flavor. It was also so salty, that had it not been for the unsalted steamed cauliflower on the side, I’m not sure we could have eaten it.
So will I make it again? I’m not sure. I’m not a fan of packaged mixes and prefer to cook from fresh ingredients. But if I did, I’d try half of each package and see if that doesn’t help with the salty.
