Remember when I told you guys to buy whole spices so we could make a ton of different masalas? Here’s one called Majarashtrian goda masala and you use it to make that rice above, which is called masalé bhat. I love, love, love it. I asked for it when I was home when I posted the picture, many of you wanted the recipe. Remember this? (I need to go get cilantro for mine obviously)
But I don’t post recipes I haven’t tested so I wanted to come home and make it properly. I have a recipe that works that I will post later today. But meanwhile, look at that masala below. Want to know what’s in it?
Cumin, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, dried red chili peppers–same things we used in the Garam masala. Just add dried coconut, and sesame seeds, toast in a little oil and voila! A completely different masala!
You cook this with the rice for the most savory rice you’ve ever had. So now you see how we are going to “Level up” our Indian cookery 🙂
